How Your A/C and Heating System Works
Your vehicle’s climate control system is more connected than most drivers realize. The A/C and heating systems share components, rely on electrical signals and sensors, and are directly tied to your engine’s cooling system. When one part fails, it can affect the others.
The A/C side compresses refrigerant to remove heat and humidity from the cabin air. The heating side uses coolant warmed by the engine to push heat through the heater core and into the cabin. When either system fails, the cause could be a refrigerant leak, a failing compressor, a clogged heater core, a bad blend door actuator, a sensor fault, or an electrical issue deeper in the system. Accurate diagnosis is the only way to know for certain.
Signs Your A/C or Heater Needs Attention
A/C is blowing warm air or not cooling down the cabin
Heater is blowing cold air or not reaching temperature
Weak airflow from the vents regardless of fan setting
Unusual smells coming from the vents when the system runs
Clicking, grinding, or squealing noise when the A/C is engaged
Moisture or fogging on the inside of the windshield
A/C compressor cycling on and off rapidly
Temperature control feels inconsistent or unresponsive
Refrigerant warning or climate system fault code on the dash
Our A/C and Heater Repair Services
Refrigerant Service and Leak Detection
We service both R-134a and R-1234yf refrigerant systems, which covers the full range of European and Asian vehicles we work on. If your system is low on refrigerant, we locate the source of the leak before recharging so the problem does not return.
A/C Compressor and Component Repair
The compressor is the heart of your A/C system. When it fails, the whole system stops working. We diagnose compressor faults and replace worn or failed components including the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and expansion valve.
Heater Core Service
A leaking or clogged heater core can rob your cabin of heat and cause fogging on the inside of your windshield. We inspect, flush, and replace heater cores to restore full heating function.
Blend Door Actuator and Controls
If your temperature control is unresponsive or your system blows hot on one side and cold on the other, a blend door actuator or control module may be at fault. We diagnose and replace these components accurately.
Electrical and Sensor Diagnosis
Using our Opus IVS scanners, BMW ISTA, ISTAP, VCDS, and Autel scanners, we trace electrical faults, sensor failures, and module issues that affect your climate control system on European and Asian vehicles.
